I bought SSAC headers about a month ago. I bought them under the false impression that I might be getting a better quality header than SD. After I got them, I looked them over comparing to pictures of SD and believed that SSAC was selling SD headers as theirs. This past weekend, I saw a set of SD headers get installed so I checked them out in comparison to my SSAC's. Everything looks to be exactly the same. The welds, clamps, gaskets and even the packaging they came in are identical. If you are considering SSAC like I did, save the money and buy off ebay. It is the same product without the extra markup. Hope this helps somebody avoid the same mistake I made.

I wish somebody had made a thread like this one so I wouldn't have wasted the money. I spent hours reading threads and saw several people say SD = SSAC = SLP. Obviously they are the same design and that's what I thought people were referring too. I never read a thread anywhere about them being the exact same item for sale at a different price. Other people here have recently posted buying SSAC too which is why I decided to post this thread and make it really clear so others can use the extra $100+ for more mods.

it was brought up several times that they are exactly the same except that SSAC has their brand branded into it.

That's good that you guys knew that, but I have seen a few others purchase SSAC in the last couple of months so I wanted to start a thread making it really clear to anybody who didn't know. I think the confusion comes from them being constantly referred to as SSAC knockoffs. Since knockoff usually means a cheaper copy and quite often lower quality, that would not indicate them to be the same product. It is also misleading when people repeatedly post that SD is the same as SSAC and is the same as SLP. I know now that SD is the exact same as SSAC, but obviously not the same as SLP. Even the header and manifold thread describes them as a copy of SSAC. They are not a copy. They are the same product manufactured at the same place. Like I said, this thread was intended to clear it up for anybody who didn't know or had been misled by the info posted all over the dozens of header threads.

Heath...remember the one difference we noted where the front manifold connects to the crossover. That's the only notable difference.

The O2 against the firewall. We probably should have gotten pics of where to beat the car up. That would really help folks.

Pretty much identical headers... for the cost though. Nice setup.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

well pictures probably wouldn't have helped as I beat that entire area up pretty good. lol. Headers are sealed nice and tight though, still didn't have any leaks coming from them.

Ya i bought from SSAC thinking they were a different product but i guess not...Well anyway im happy with what i got even if i payed $100 bucks more. They were installed properly and don't leak. But i could have bought a good box of cigars with that $100 bucks lol...

Well Bill installed my headers and we put the rear on first, tightened that down tight, then put the cross over into the rear header and fit the front one into place and used a rubber mallet to push the cross over into the front header. Used torca clamps to tighten it down and without even using copper RTV and it doesn't leak from the headers at all. I have a slight leak from after the V clamp but that's because Bill didn't have another extra 3" torca clamp and had to use the one that came with it. Other wise these went in easy and sealed great.

do u kno for a fact that the leak is at V clamp? i had a leak that i thought was either flex pipe or V clamp joint and it turned out to be EGR... so i just took it off and leak is now gone.
