    I don't suppose anyone has a write up on replacing a rack on a 98 GT 3800?
I saw the right up on the 04+ but don't know how much different it would be for my 98. I'm thinking about trying to replace it myself. I can't afford to take it somewhere right now.

I think the 04+ would be close enough that it would get you through. But to answer your question directly, I have not seen one for any other models.

Where are you located, perhaps there is someone local that could help out.

I live in the middle of Missouri close to Jefferson City.
The 04 write up shows it twisting and coming out of the left wheel wheel but a post somewhere (I forgot) on an older model like mine said you had to drop the back of the subframe. I don't know if I want to do that by myself or not.

    Rack replacement

According to this writeup, you do need to drop the back side of the cradle, but it says its not that bad...

Thank you sooo much for the writeup! I'm thinking I might try to do it myself now. I had almost decided I couldn't do it. I'll let everyone know if I did try it myself after I get it done.
    Thanks again,

actually an easier job than it looks. hardest part is getting the lines loose and reconnecting the steering shaft. with the slightest bit of mechanical ability anyone should be able to do it.
