People are telling me this pcm isnt very good for the gtp? How so? I've been looking at the 3800 performance website.. the pcm is the same price and does the same thing so is there really a difference?

People say this on assumption. Dhp is a good PCM, zzp is a good PCM. You will always benefit from a custom tune. I runn a zzp an see afr's of around 10.9-11.4 at wot depending on the weather and people say their pcm's run lean lol.

Whats the ideal afr for our cars to be running at..? i know that the old engine was blown because he had no reprogrammed pcm and the engine was running too lean cause he had an intake and a smaller pulley.. thats why he put the new pcm in when he got the new engine

my intense pcm runs around that maybe a little more on the rich side

i think it also comes to reason that mistakes in tunes are to be expected no matter what tune you run and also that some engines just die no fault of the pcm

ive heard time and time again that zzp cant tune and i disagree. i tune with hptuners and yes they seem to run you rich but i agree that they should. they cant run your car to the limit as they cant see your car so they put in a margin of safety (at the price of running rich and soft on timing) to compinsate for all the different factors your car can pick up. what if they pushed your tune to the limit and u have a bad fuel filter...by by motor. i have viewed their (canned) tunes and believe they r very compitent at what they do. their tune will run circles around your stock tune and add power/life to your car if u have mods but havent gotten to the point where your ready to tune yourself yet.

Well then it sounds like i have nothing to worry about with the pcm.. the original owner said he never scanned for kr but I have all the supporting mods for the smaller pulley.. so should i really be worried about it?

Just get a scanner and keep an eye on everything.. If you have the supporting mods you still need to scan to make sure your going to lose the front bank of pistons.... On a side note, I would consider headers before you drop down to a 3.4...

The guy said he only went one size smaller than stock but that cant be if I'm running 12 psi right..? and 12psi is what the aftermarket boost gauge goes up to and I'm sure the gauge dosent lie lol

12.5 AFR or numerically lower is considered optimal for power, but in the mid-11's is safer. Sounds like the previous owner got greedy and overdid it without tuning it. That's a shame...

You should get scanner on there ASAP. Look into an Aeroforce.

Does your car have a 3" DP and/or PLOG? 12 psi is way high and I would do those if not headers before anything else.

Get headers first. Espiecally with a GenV car your knocking with 12psi for sure.

It is probably a 3.4"...which is headers/rockers, or an IC, or cam territory. Just an FYI. Click the link in my sig for more info. IMO, too many people have had issues with Intense, or ZZP PCM's in the past for that matter. Which is why I say get DHP's. Buy from 3800 Performance...best mail order tune out there...tried and true for years.

is there any way where i could find out the pulley size? I put measuring tape next to it and it looked like it was around 3.5 or 3.6 but i couldnt tell, there was barely any room
