Well my car likes to think it's night time all the time and turns on my headlights (DRL disabled) and dims my interior lights. This is ok, but now I can't see my DIC.. I figured, it had to be the light sensor in the front going bad or something. So today I went to the junk yard to find this part on a few scrap GP's.

Well I had my eye on this 2000 from my last visit because of the performance shift gear shifter with the button. I didn't get it last time, but I visited today just for it.. and a few other things.

Saw the light sensor and remembered that I need that too so I went to grab it and brought it home. Well on the way back, I noticed that it's a bit different then the one in my 2001 gtp. It has an extra (bulb?) thing in the middle.

There is my stock one next to the one I pulled.

Here is the one I pulled:

Obviously the red is the security alarm indicator, and the one on the left is the light indicator, but what is the one in the middle?

Could be for the digital climate control.

Maybe it stopped in 2001? Because the car I was in had a performance shift button on the gear shifter, so it's a 2000 right? Everybody here that has one I'm assuming has a >2000. Hmm... I think I'll just take the light sensor lol, or maybe replace the whole thing with it for no reason d:

Ever since I got my GP Ive heard people say if you want to disable the DRL's and Auto Lights on a 97-00, pull the DRL fuse. If you want to disable the DRL's and Auto Lights on a 01-03, unplug the DRL heatsink and replace the "eye" on top of the dash with a resistor of some sort.

So I think it has to do with the 97-00 style automatic lighting system. I dont think its gonna work with your 02 Nawar...

You could always try removing the left most sensor and swapping it with yours, but I dont think the black middle piece will do us 01-03 owners any good.

    Thats my best guess.

Yea, I could just put it in for looks lmao. But yea, since this is from an 2000, and my 2001 doesn't have anything that wires to the middle thing, I'll probably just use the light sensor and security LED. Now.. Do I want to keep the tan one I have and just swap the sensor, or put the black for contrast? I have a tan interior with black dash and everything. Hmm...

I have a 98, and have that same piece. One of the holes is the bulb for the security system. One is a light sensor, although I'm not sure if it's for the DRL or the AC, since my car manual says if I have the AC on auto, when sun is hitting the cabin, the AC turns higher. I think it's for both.

The little dome that you're asking about is for the keyless entry I believe.

It is for the digital automatic climate control. Very similar unit to that for the HUD, I used one from the j-yard as the legs were longer to solder to in the HUD on the gtp. I also use 2 of them in an 88 fiero(1 for hud as there was no room for the mirrors so 1/2 height, 1 for auto climate control)

Well... I tried putting just the sensor in today (which was different, but still had the same plug) and my car still thinks it's night time... I give up man, I don't know what else to do..

Pull out the fuse for the automatic lights, and control them manually.

On my car, I have the DRL module unplugged, which disables the DRL only. I still have the auto headlights, unless I pull the fuse.

    I know it's not convenient.
