i believe it is a separate piece, but yeah it's tinted. also, it doesn't seal on top of those dots. trust me, it looks like **** on mine too.

Well I talked to the guy and he is willing to try and do a strip against his 22 years experience.
I have read many ways of effectively tinting these areas including the dot matrix areas. There is a glue that can be used in the place of soap water around edges that works for the dots, or you can have the tint stop at the first set of dots and paint the dots and or lines with flat or satin finish black spray paint. I am not willing to paint inside of my car, but if the window was removed I could see myself taping the areas off to use paint.
The guy I am using said he has an etching solution to use on the lines but that he thinks it will not work well as I want either.
If I knew the steps to remove back glass and had the tools I would say that would be best way to fix with paint. My dot matrix on windshield top tint sealed perfectly.
