The last 4 or 5 fill-ups, I've been using 93 and my car has been running better than ever, but now my exhaust has a "sweet" smell to it, and when I go WOT theres a little bit of black soot that blows outta the exhaust. just wanna make sure I'm not hurting anything running 93 in a N/A....

Hell no, running good gas isnt hurting anything. Ive ran 93+ in every car from muscle to a cobalt N/A. You'll get better mileage too.

Sweet smell means you're burning coolant.

Change your LIM gaskets or wait till the top swap and hope you don't spin a bearing in the mean time.

My car needs 94 octane to be nearly knock free.

Filled up with 94 yesterday and i've seen at MOST 0.5* KR.

I guess the winter gas is finally gone, onto the good stuff

You only get better mileage if your car is setup to run on it (Or needs it to prevent knocking like my POS)

    High octane = less mileage.

The LIM gaskets are fine, I know that guy I bought the car from and he had them replaced. It's not a coolant smell at all, I can't really explain it... And the whole mileage thing, doesn't 93 burn faster than 87?

octane doesnt have anything to do with how fast it burns.

higher pump octanes tend to burn slower, but race gas burns faster.

If 93 makes your L36 run better, there's something wrong with the engine. The only thing increased octane rating will do is prevent knock, and the L36 shouldn't be knocking on regular.

Even if it does, it shouldn't much at all. Nowhere near enough to be able to tell that it runs better on higher octane.

Sorry how can you tell the difference between an L36 not knocking and one with normal 3* but up to 6-7* of KR?

Become a Naval pilot, then you can have some serious go fast.

my GT needed 93 after getting a DHP pcm and more mods done to the engine. After the demod, i switched back to 87 octane. I get a little knock with that. i got 0* with 93.

Only reason I am using 87 right now is to save money. I dont beat on my car at all neways
