I have a 2002 40th Anniv. GTP-S.C. with a hair under 36,000 miles. A few months ago the heater started acting funny. It would intermittently blow hard and then "slow down" for a moment and then return to normal all the while the DIC would dim slightly.

This seems to be a "normal" problem here other than mine seems rather goofy.

It's progressed over the months. After driving 500 miles a few day ago, it's acting even more jerky. Now the heater is completely stopping and won't come on for as long as several minutes. I seem to be able to coax it to life by turning the fan knob to position 5, but that doesn't seem to work anymore like the "textbook" cases here.

While the heater goes "out", the DRL and DIC will both go out as well. BUT, for a minute, the heater came back on and the DIC and DRL were STILL out, aka nonfunctional. But the three seem to be linked. Heater goes off, DRL goes off, and DIC goes off. I don't think they will last but a few more days at this rate.

There is the usual "clicking"(bad) as the blower fan comes back on and off. It kept clicking like crazy today while I was driving home. But probably the strangest thing is the fact that when I turn the fan knob OFF, the DIC and DRL still remained "out". I had to turn the car off and restart to get the DIC and DRL working again. Bizarre... And sometimes, the DIC will halfway "burn out" when I turn on the heater. That is it will still be partially on, but very dim...

I had an ignition switch go bad in a Tempo and it was rather pricey to have fixed... Is this another pocket killing expense? As, I already have been thinking of selling my GTP because of financial issues with school.

Sounds like the ignition switch is dying.

The clicking seems to be coming from down below the dash, same area as it did in my Tempo.
