Hi, Im new to the site and Im looking to buy my fiance a GTP(also for me so its gotta have boost ) Ive got a max budget of $8500. Im looking at 2000-2003 gtp's since there in my budget. basically Im asking what would you guys look for in a gtp with my budget? Any special additions I should be looking for ,,,gtx for example. What kinda condition and mileage should I expect for the money. finally anything I should stay away from as far as aftermarket parts, ecu's or ignition systems that are known to be problematic. Thanks alot for any info you can give

I found this and am considering buying it, my only concern would be emissions. The owners county doesnt require emissions but chicago does, is there anyway possible this car would pass an emission test with no cat..

Make sure the transmission shifts smoothly and doesnt hesitate. Also make sure that the TC lockup engages and that fourth gear works.

Make sure the oil is clean and the exhaust is too, the LIM gaskets tend to leak.

check for rust in the usual spots, you've got an F body, you should know where to look.

Get a stock car thats been maintained, preferably has the records available.

Roca is thinking about a car for him, didn't exactly notice the kid in your avatar.

special editions aren't worth much. They usually come with ugly spoilers, but they can come with nice hoods.

The F1 package should be avoided since its fugly.

Thanks rynoman but WA is a bit to far of a ride for me. I tried to post an add I found on Craigslist but it didnt show up, Ill paste the info on the car, its 8500obo.......let me know what you think about it.... thanks so much for all the help ....

It is a gorgeous car and in incredible condition. It gets stored every winter and I don't drive it on gravel. It just came off warranty last summer and when it was under warranty it went to the dealership for anything that was wrong. It has 92xxx miles on it and it got a new transmission at 78xxx. It was compression tested 200 miles ago by a certified mechanic and came to around 163 in every cylinder. About 600 miles I replaced the SC Oil, the header gaskets with good FEL-PRO gaskets (the Pacesetter gaskets are junk),exhaust tightened, tires rotated. The spark plugs and wires it has now are about 200 miles old.
