    Hello all,
I just recently acquired a 1998 GTP with 114000 miles on it. The previous owner had removed the supercharger belt, so my first move was to replace it, now the engine seems to be misfiring and stuttering after about 2000 rpm, if I remove the belt, the problem (and the power) are gone.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, TIA

Whate grade fuel is in it? regular or premium w/o belt regular would be fine , regular is not good with the supercharger belt on.

Any engine codes? engine light flashing when the car sputters?
Do a basic tune up at the least, plugs and wires. When plugs removed inspect them.

All test drives had a slight sputter around 3-4000+ rpm under boost thought must be nomal. My 98 gtp I got last year got a code for missfire and it was a bad plug, there was a hairline crack in the ceramic.

I have been putting premium gas in, the service engine soon light comes on ocassionaly with or without the belt, but started flashing when the engine was sputtering. I have only had the car for week now, just trying to fix all of the problems big and small that the last owner left for me.

tune up and if the code continues, get the code retrieved and post it here. Then we can trouble shoot.

The supercharger does spin freely with almost no resistance, still waiting for my buddy to get back into town w/ my diagnostic so I can get the codes.

Do not put any parts into until you get the code read and find out what is going on.

If you just start throwing parts at it, you could be wasting money.

Put the belt back on get the code read and at the same time observe all the other engine functions on teh scanner or have someone else do it. This car needs a trained technician, not an auto zone free scan, or else the issue(s) could stay. You should possibly take it to the dealer to at least figure out what is wrong and THEN fix it on your own.
