Help, my TCS light and check tire on 97 GTP won't go out, I need to get this sucker tuned and inspected, the plates are expired and I really need this car! Tuner guy said it is a bad Body Control Module, but now he has'nt returned my calls and I have no idea where it is at and what years it interchanges with so I can put a used one in it. Has anyone done this and what is involved. Any help would be appreciated, I am currently between jobs so the budget is tight and I need the car. Thanks

are you sure it isnt just a wheel bearing assembly that needs to be replaced?
There is also a controller for the entire electronic brake control system(EBCM IIRC) I have not heard of a check tire alert or code ever on these cars.....just the individual wheel bearing assembly w/module and also the ebcm but that is all for the abs system. I dont know that what your tuner guy told you is true or not. With the proper code reader, it will tell you which tire it is.

I replaced both front wheel bearings last summer. I will jack it up monday ( its at a shop ) and check, I will update. Thanks.

Yea, the reset button is under the dash, doesnt even make the light flicker.

I did'nt mention also that it has been on a dynojet to be tuned during this period also and I know the lights come on when I run it ( I prob have 12 runs on it ) but they reset after the car is driven.

Could this be the rear wheel bearings?

if a wheel bearing was bad enough to make your TCS off light come on, then it would also trigger your ABS light. do you have an ABS light also?

will a bcm failure even cause the abs and tcs off/check tire press light only to come on??? i thought that could be an ebcm failure. i have the same prob on my 99. i replaced all 4 hub assys and abs pump, checked all voltages at the hubs and everything checked out ok. i was going to replace the ebcm but have not found a year interchange compatibility list...

No, the ABS light is NOT on and the car runs and drives fine, I'm really hoping it is the rear hubs, probably should have replaced them all at once but the baby needed diapers..... And I needed to get 55 gal of Methanol for the Goat. I am purchasing the rear hubs tonite, any special instructions with those? As soon as I can I will let you know if this cleared up my problem. Thanks guys.

someone correct me if im wrong, but i thought the rear hubs/bearings played absolutely no role in traction control. since theirs no "drive" going to those tires, there would never be a need to cut power to them......

i know im correct when i say if ANY hub/bearing was bad enough to disable your traction control, it would also disable your ABS, period.
needless to say, i personally dont think its a hub/bearing

Ok, I know this is old, but I did resolve the problem. It was a broken wire in the harness between the hub connector and the ABS unit. I don't know why it happened but it did. I had to ring the individual wires to find it (no continuity).

I just hope this will help one other GP owner.
