So when I was going to work today, and since my car is in the garage. When I start my car up, the Automatic Lights turn them selves on, because I guess it's dark enough for it to turn on. Anyways, I noticed on my HUD, that the Hi-beam symbol was on. I looked at my gauges, and noticed that the Hi- Beam symbol was about 25% lit up. The headlights were on low-beams. When I drove out of my garage, and down a block, the Automatic Lights turned them self off, seeing how it was sunny outside. Both my Hi beams symbols shut off as well.

Now after work, when I start my car, and the Automatic Lights turn on again, since it's 10:45PM, once again both my Hi-beam symbols are showing again, on the HUD, and on the dash(25% lit). I flicked on my Hi-Beams by the lever, and my headlights go bright, like they should. The Hi-Beam symbol on my dash, goes to maximum brightness like it should, and the HUD still says it's on. I turn my Hi-Beams off, my headlights go dimmer and my HUD still says my Hi-beams are on, and my Hi-Beam symbol on the dash, goes back to 25% brightness again.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what causing it. It just started it today, and yesterday it was working just fine. I have a 2003 Grand Prix GT, in case you want to know what kind of car I have.

Well, whatever it is. When I got done with work, and started up my car. It stopped doing it, so hopefully it won't continue to do that.

My 02 GTP did something very similar awhile back and it turned out to be the headlight bulb probably shorting internally between the low and high filaments before it died.

i went out and bought an incorrect headlight bulb. dumb huh? anyway, it was late when i installed it and the auto store is 30min away. it worked so i left it. as soon as i installed the proper bulb, this problem went away.
