This car has a control module too and a resistor. The fan should come on at the highest speed. High speed is the defgault setting, since it is a full 12 volts to the motor. It does this as a safety for the driver, so there is some kinf fan speed, so you can drive. Does your blower come on in the high setting?


Blower Motor Resistor Replacement

  1. <LI type=1>Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical. <LI type=1>Remove the right side instrument panel insulator. Refer to Insulator Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.


    <LI type=1>Disconnect the electrical connectors from the blower motor resistor.


    <LI type=1>Disconnect the blower motor resistor electrical connector from the blower motor.


    <LI type=1>Loosen, do not remove, both forward screws. The blower motor resistor opening is slotted as access is extremely limited. <LI type=1>Remove the rearward screw.
  2. Remove the blower motor resistor.



Blower Control Module Replacement

  1. <LI type=1>Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical. <LI type=1>Remove the right instrument panel insulator. Refer to Insulator Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) .


    <LI type=1>Disconnect the electrical connector to the blower motor control module.


    <LI type=1>Disconnect the blower motor control module electrical connector from the blower motor.



    Important

    The opening to the blower motor control module is slotted. Access to the blower motor control module opening is limited.

    <LI type=1>Loosen both of the blower motor control module forward screws. <LI type=1>Remove the blower motor control module rearward screw.
    Important

    Tilt down the rear of the blower motor control module.
  2. Remove the blower control module.
