Pretty sure my passenger side cv joint is going. I have the infamous green grease on the control arm, and under the hood and its making an annoying squeak every now and then. So basically what should i do? buy new axles? or do i need to buy just new joints or something? if someone could gimme a link to what i need to buy it would be appreciated! and also how hard of a job would it be to do?

To pop the shaft out of the tranny it takes some finangling. Sometimes just use a crowbar to wedge in and snap it out of there, or wedge in and have someone else tap on the axle with a hammer. Most of the time it just takes a sudden jerk at the right time to get it out. If you do it by hand most of the time you end up a lil bloody.

get the big nut off the axle....

seperate the control arm from the wheel hub with a pickle fork....

pull axle out of the wheel hub by pushing it back and manuvering it out of the back of the hub.

get under the car and get a big socket extension....place the extension on the big piece of the axle closest to the trans...you wanna have the extension facing the wheel hub (outward from the trans) use a hammer and bang the axle outward it will tap out, some are harder than others (its held in with a snap ring)....or use a slide hammer (rent from auto store, much easier)...tranny fluid may spill out a lil bit this is ok.

clean up grease and do it all again in reverse order (make sure to pop the axle in you will hear the ring snap.)

yes, but you will have to pull the shaft out to do that as well, I believe. This is also assuming that your bearings/joints are all OK....which you better inspect before installing new boot/grease

they are independant and you only have to replace one at a time.
