I have a base 2005 Grand prix, and I was driving my car on the freeway and realized my car has a top speed governor and I would like to take it off. I was wondering if anyone knew how to do this and to instruct me how to do so. Thanks

    You'll need a tune or a tuner.

Just confirming, he is 100%. Your PCM needs to be modified. The good news is a tuned PCM is a great upgrade; the bad news is it won’t be cheap.

Also for general information, I believe the 04+ N/A GPs speed limiters are set to 108 mph, if my memory serves. I would assume this is because of the stock “S” rated tires.

Ten years of continuous driving excitement and counting!

Like 400. If you learn how to tune, you'll have a whole new car.

No A pcm is your car's computer. A tuner is a device hooked up to a laptop that lets you configure your car's computer. These can be had for around $400.00

A base tuned PCM can be had for $150 or less but are not nearly as good as having a personalized tune for your car as each car demands different things to get it to run at peak performance.

If you want speed buy a suzuki hayabusa .. I went 185mph... i hit the limiter.. felt like i was trying to tear off the throttle...

It doesnt matter how fast a car goes. it matter how fast it does a 1/4 in

haha.. that speed is blazing.. my head barely lifted at that speed and the wind tried to rip me off.. had to duck back down hard and fast.. that was the last time i went that fast!!

the ratings on tires are only for a constant speed such as going 160 on the autobahn for a long time...just getting up to 140 for a few seconds wont hurt anything
