i bet in the summer youll only get 9-10 psi. a stock pulley wouldnt be a bad idea in the winter, but its up to you. having the 3.4 on was pointless in the snow for me.

I was getting upwards of 8 on a stock pulley in the middle of summer, so it would probably be more. I have no idea why my internals flow so poorly. It dropped down to that after I put the plog/DP on, and before that I saw 9 psi on the stock exhaust w/ stock pulley. I just have a non flowing, high psi *****. If it is tuned for the 3.4, can I just switch to the 3.8 and not worry about the tune or will it run rich as hell?
Port that blower!!
This is my DD, can't afford the downtime...unless someone wants to port a blower and LIM for me and I can swap it out and send them mine back... This would have to be in good shape obviously...
OK...I got a blower and am having it ported. IS there any benefit to porting the LIM if I am not going to run an intercooler on it ever? opinions please
Doesn't hurt...but won't really help you.
well I would have to buy an extra LIM and pay to have it ported. So it would be a waste of money for me to do it if there are no gains to be had...
Ok...here is my spill about this. THe ported blower is one of those "KR" killing mods that most people over look or blow off...in all honesty it is a great thing to do. Sure you hear it whine more...and your boost might decrease JUST a tad...BUT...your lowering your outlet temps, making the blower more efficient and less parastitic since it is creating less heat and lowering any sort of KR you might have...and getting rid of KR increases horsepower right? The general rule of thumb is every degree of KR is good for 5-7 or so CRANK hp...so figure if you have 2* of KR and that ported blower kills almost all of it...not saying it will but it is possible. With that...if the ported blower kills KR, thus you gain more HP...then say...a cold air intake...or a downpipe? I'm just throwing that out there that not enough people think it is a worthwhile mod...hence why I say get a ported blower and throttle body at the same time to just open it all up...kill 2 birds with 1 stone if you will.
yeah thats what i was going to say. a ported blower doesnt do much until youre running a lot of boost. every bit helps, but a ported blower just isnt necessary until later down the road.
He doesnt have one yet, he is sending it to me now to get done. One of my ported blowers people usually report a 2-3* reduction of kr, or more, depends on the setup.
as stated earlier in the thread, I have 14-15 psi or so at the very max and have seen as much as 4* of knock. I just want to cut them back as much as possible before I get the tune. I have to buy all of the extra parts that are going to be ported and polished, so that I can swap them out with minimal downtime. I dont know if a ported TB or LIM would help me with either of those goals. Someone please step in if I am wrong...
A ported tb would help a little ill do it for $45
14-15? That seems a bit high...sounds like you need more flow mods...and a ported blower isn't going to get rid of anything like that...and bringing in more air with the ported TB isn't going to help in this case either IMO. I'd get headers. Sell that DP/PLOG...
Well, it is a bit high....I really don't want headers, if I can avoid it at all. I will see where I am at with it after I put on the ported SC. I should be able to tune out the KR. If I have 0kr, what will it hurt to have a couple extra pounds of boost?
maybe I am at 12 psi or so right now, not 14 or 15 like I thought. I just checked my original post and I guess I maxed out at 12, so sorry for misrepresenting the numbers a bit. I would test it right now, but I wont get it back until tomorrow. 12 psi with no knock shouldnt hurt anything should it?
I could tune out your kr in 2 seconds. Its called pull timing until you get the rest of the tune figured out then add back till you start to knock.
