ok heres the deal guys. i bought a 1999 gp gt with 78,000 miles on it for $1150. it runs good to the best of my knowledge except for my 02 sensor is bad but the body is pretty rough and so is the interior carpet and headliner. winter is here and i'm going to see if she makes it through the winter. if she does i'm thinking about fully restoring her, you know completly repainting her and doing body work and making all the lines right. its currently gold with tan interior. i'm going to paint it black and put in black carpet and a black headliner along with painting all the trim pieces black. also black headlights and new rims and tires an all that. i'm looking to put about $1500-$1750 into her. do you guys think it worth it. i originaly bought it as a winter beater because i have a crotch rocket to ride during summer, but i fell in love with the car. i love the leather heated seats and the heads up display and just the feel of the car. what would you guys do. i'm kinda on the fence about it because if i redo it i know that there pretty reliable cars. they are reliable right? but anyways please let me know. i can paint it and do all the work myself i just dont know if its worth doing to the car because i dont want to do all the work and have the car die on me i mean its at 78,000 miles so please give me some opinions on it.

these cars can last a long long time if taken care of properly, but it depends on how the previous owner and you took care of it. Obviously something that has not had much maintenance done to it and was beat on all the time is not going to last as long as something that was/is maintained and not beat on. There are plenty of people with close to and over 200,000 miles on their GTP's. If you like the car that much I would do it if you plan to keep it for more than two years. It is a small investment price and if you change your mind later you could probably get a good portion of that money back if it is in near mint condition. It is up to you in the end though.

Up to u really. Depending on what the body actually looks like and how it was treated, suspension, brakes, rust, etc. Not against restoring a car but...if the engine and drivetrain are good, might want to get a donner car that has a sexy shell but maybe a dead engine so u get it for cheap, transplant the engine and drivetrain and other goddies, heated leather seats, etc into good body, less money spent and while the engine is out put in new seals and fluids etc and u gots a good car all round.. IDK that is an option aswell, bt it is up to u in the end.
