    2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP...

I've changed my oil twice since I've had it (every 3K miles) and I can not figure out how to reset the oil life monitor. Somehow it supposedly measures the oil life percentage. Manual says to go to that screen and hold the reset button, well, mine's not doing it.

    Any suggestions, comments are welcome.

yes, that is correct. You have to press and hold it for like ten seconds or so....

I have no idea, as yours is much newer than mine. Is it still under warranty? I would call the stealership and see if they can check it out for free.

did you have the car running? im not sure how its done for a car with a button but try with the key on the on position. not running the motor then trying it.

all other vehicles all you have to do is turn the key to on position press the gas pedal 3 times all the way down and let it come back all the way up withinn 5 seconds. if that doesnt work i use the throttle body linkage because some vehicles have an error between the pedal and throttle body.
then again you might have the etc (electronic throttle control) where you could only use the pedal.

    Hope that helps

that is the default GM procedure........this works with almost all of their vehicles. Is your car under warranty? If it is and the book says it can be done through the DIC, then why not take it in and get it fixed?

I recall the "pedal to the floor 3 times in 5 seconds" from way back in 1996 on our Luminas at work.

On my 07, engine does not need to be running, and you have ign key in the "run" position.
Then, use the info center button marked "i" to scroll to the oil monitor reset screen.
Once you are there, then press and hold the button with the arrow pointing left and hold till screen says system is reset.
