    you are close but it takes a little more than that to get it in program mode. I believe it is seven steps. You have to pull the fuse, then do a certain sequence with the key, then it beeps to let you know you are in prog mode, and then you hold the buttons. It doesnt take long, but you do have to do all those steps pretty fast, or it will not let you into prog mode. There is a step by step on here on a different thread. It is not hard, it may take you a couple trys to get it perfect...

    Yeah you are right. I'm pretty sure it explains it in your manual if you still have it. And the remote I bought came with the instructions to do it as well.
