Greetings, new member and first post.
I've never messed with A/C before and have Googled and searched this forum but couldn't find an answer. Anyway on my 2001 SE 3100 (bought in April), at first the A/C was fine. The air wasn't supercold like my old 1988 Firebird Formula, but it was acceptable. Then I started getting warm air through the driver vents (which I've found might be the blend door). But now there's not even cold air coming through the passenger vents. If I drive for about 15 minutes with the A/C off and then turn it on, there will be this initial one second blast of supercold air through the passenger vents only, then it will ramp down to slightly cool air, and only if I have the dial on "2".
Before I let a tech look at it and charge me money I'd rather be spending on other things, is there anything I could do and maybe fix this? I swear every car I've had gives the worst luck with A/C units, I'm tempted to just buy a Lexus ES 300, since my co-worker raves his never gives him problems. Any hints would be appreciated, even to make sure the tech doesn't screw me if I have to resort to the pros. Thanx!
