ok so ive ran the bbv with no lower hose solenoid removed and an L fitting on the FPR so its all taken out and it was like this during my tune....i put it back in the other day and i seem to knock less is this just coincidence or is it actually working?....my pcm doesnt pull fuel with torque managent any more with the tune....just wondering i would rather not run it just because 1. it can go bad and cause boost issues and 2. it removes more clutter under the hood

the BBV being hooked up has nothing to do with knock, it has to do with your tune. tune around it and there is no reason for it.

It was just a fluke. You can't believe you are adjusting your KR levels by moving the BBV do you?

If he's moving the actuator, it will absolutely affect part throttle knock.

Where are you seeing this knock? It could be possible to see a bit of knock right at the shift, which you should be able to tune around. It's also possible that the solenoid is bad and lowering your boost, which would change your knock levels, of course.

Part throttle KR would definitely be affected, the BBV solenoid affects where you start and stop getting boost, how could it "not" affect KR?

The solenoid doesn't do that, though. It dumps boost for torque management, such as during shifts or traction control. Where you start getting boost is controlled by the pulley and the BBV actuator. Where you stop getting boost is controlled by when the engine explodes .

Nope, there are timer, and various other settings, and such that the PCM uses to control the solenoid, drive with it hooked up, then without, the boost hits differently when it is vacuum alone modulating the BBV, then the solenoid in the equation too

The only timer I'm aware of has to do with torque management, and when it will start to pull boost. Are you talking about something different?

the BBV doesnt affect WHEN you get into boost. getting into boost is as easy and putting the pedal down. you cant tune boost levels like with a turbo car. this argument is completely asinine.

the BBV has nothing to do with anything besides maybe a little part throttle knock, but if so then your tune is off.

ok i havent touched my BBV i have removed and taken out my solenoid below the BBV....i dont think its effecting my knock i think i need more fuel at WOT my LTFT'S are 3.1+ so i think me and fastkatt need to go into fueling and a maf tune....

If the valve is open, boost is severely limited, how can you say it doesn't affect it? if the thing is stuck open, you get maybe 4psi with a stock pulley, and that doesn't hit till up top.... I'm lost as to how opening a BYPASS valve wouldn't affect boost build-up

clearly if the valve is open then you wont make boost, but adjusting it does not increase or decrease how long it takes to make full boost. anyone that says it does is completely insane.
