I am not sure but I am guessing on this. I dont think that the car sees that you have the shift lever in the park position and it acts just like it is in gear so it activates that safety feature which holds the key in the ignition while the car is in gear. Get some sort of contact cleaner and spray it down into your shifter area and go back and forth through the gears several times. If you can get that sensor cleaned up, it may work for you. Give it time after you spray that stuff in there to dry out before you try and use it though.........just an idea.....no guarantees on this working for you......
