Ok first here is the links to pics
    Scott Ross's Photos - GTP | Facebook

I posted an intro also so check that out too if you want. Anyways I have a 1999 GTP silver coupe. I had made another post about a car that didn't have the supercharger belt on and well ironically this one didn't either. Well I still bought this one because of the awesome deal and took my chances. Previous owner said he bought it that way but never fixed it. He only put 7,000 miles on it since he bought it and had to sell because of a divorce. It only has 127,000 miles and is loaded. I got it for 1,700. I think it was an awesome deal but you guys can be the judge of that. It needs a door and either fix or repair the fender due to a side swipe in a parking lot. Door works fine, window won't go down though. Planning on finding a used one already silver. Right now mainly looking to get a few other things fixed.

*HUD cuts out(I know I read something about this on here just need to search)
*Idler pulley missing but bolt there. I just bought a new pulley along with a tensioner pulley and belt. Everything works now but want to check sc oil. Also, I thought the boost gauge would record boost even in park when revving it up but maybe I'm wrong. Only does it when getting on it hard. Another car I drove recorded boost just cruising around.
*Main thing I want to fix is the miss/shutter. When driving around town or at a stop it will surge then go. Haven't gotten it out on the highway yet until I get insurance tomorrow. Supposedly has newer plugs and wires but could be gaped wrong. Maybe thought cat because exhaust was ticking only after driving a couple minutes. Noticed the rpms jump to 1300ish while at an idle but could have been because of the a/c and meant nothing.

    Thanks guys

the HUD problem is common. one of the diodes on the inside needs to be re-soldered.

the easiest way to change the SC oil is to take the blower off and tip it upside down then refill it with a whole bottle that you can get from GM. you cannot get boost in idle, there is no load on the engine.

usually a stutter is a missfire. change out plugs and wires. if that doesnt fix it look into the coil packs and ICM. if the idle is jumpy, you might have a vacuum leak.

So it flipped a code and came up with
P0102 MAF or VAF A Circuit Low Input

P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)

So I unplugged the MAF sensor and car run awesome. It used to fall on its face right away. Also, earlier when it was hooked up rpms jumped while at idle and in drive and luckily I had my foot on the brake. The previous owner said that is what he thought was wrong also and tried to clean it and it didn't help. Prob going to get a new one or used. Heard of people buying from Morad Parts. I am guessing the bad MAF is making the car lean so the O2 sensor is prb good but I can check that after I get the MAF fixed.

Is it ok to run with the MAF unplugged for a few days? I thought I read it would run rich and I shouldn't. Thanks guys.

I would try and clean it yourself unless you know that the previous owner did a good job cleaning it themself.......those MAF are touchy.......

Does it take a tamperproof tool to take out the maf?

Could it be a vacuum leak and not the maf? I read that vacuum leaks have the same symptoms and I thought someone on here also got the maf code with a vacuum leak. I plan on checking it out tom. sometime.

if you unplugged the maf and it ran okay then its probably the maf, but youre right. a too lean code is usually a vacuum leak and the idle will be jumpy.

So I have a used MAF coming from the yard here in town for 55 bucks. I also sprayed starter fluid all around the motor and didn't find any vacuum leaks.
