ok so awhile back i closed the bbv like an idiot and realized it was a mistake and tried to get it back to stock....so i recently got a mechanical boost gauge in and i never saw more than 6 psi.....then i was thinking maybe i adjusted the bbv to high and im bleeding off boost when im not supposed to be....lowered it a lil today and BAM +2psi in 5 mins haha kinda a nice 8psi kick for a stupid correction....but then on my way home tonight i raced a **** can civic from a 30 roll (dont need to tell the results as they are obvious) and when my tranny down shifted with the pedal floored i got 9psi for a second....is this possible im still running a 3.8 pulley.....i was shocked i get a steady 8psi now but sometimes i see 9psi why is this....

still can't believe i was losing 2 psi thanks to zzp's tech section

9 psi on a stock pulley seems a bit much, I was gonna say since you have headers it would be more like 4-5psi...but who knows LOL

i can still see full boost with headers and rockers, but its not till high rpms. mid rpms it probably around 5 going off the DIC.

but i also have my bbv raised, when i lower it i too see more boost. but i could not tell you the exact amout.

raising or lowering the actuator has nothing to do with boost amount, only how fast the bbv actually closes.

    bypass valve.

if i lower mine it gets into boost faster and boost higher in the mid rpm and is full at high rpms. when raised its slower to get into boost, less at mid rpm range and it kinda bounces off the full amount at high rpms.

but i hate when its lowerd how it gets into boost everywhere. barley hit the gas and its boosting.

Unless it's adjusted too high and can't close completely, which I'm guessing was the case for the OP.

How exactly do you raise/lower the bbv? I have actually never played with the thing so is it easy to do?

there are 3 bolts you loosen. then you can move it but leave it where it is stock IMO.

x2 DO NOT TOUCH IT haha i regret moving mine you can never get it back to where it originally was....although i did get lucky....at the top end of 1st gear i peak at 9psi....no lies ill have to record it....i wonder is 9psi is a stock pulley record...its weird tho i get 7 psi steady when i floor it and as the rpms climb the boost climbs 2 more pounds before the shift
