yeah, it's required for a top swap. Have you read the top swap thread in the NA forum?

Why would you want to put the heads on if you don't have all the parts yet? There's nothing to gain just by switching to L67 heads. You'd also have to find a way to plug the injector bosses.

you can keep the l36 heads, but it would require custom rails and injector bosses in the l67 lower intake manifold, the same setup that im doin for my brothers 3.8 camaro, we are m90ing it

I know the l67 heads are required and i also know that there will be no power gain. I dont have all the parts for the topswap yet but will have the heads soon My question was can i just put the heads in for now and do the rest later. or will i need to do some modifications to the fuel rail?

you will have holes in the l67 heads that you will have to plug. buy the heads, get all the parts, then put on all at once.

If you do want to put the L67 heads on early, you could plug the injector holes in the heads with a set of junk injectors.

But I agree you might as well do it all at once. I don't see splitting up the job saving you any time or effort, as you'll have to remove everything down to the heads anyway.

It's a waste of gaskets to tear it down now just to put heads on, then tear it down later to do the rest.
