hey guys im new to the GM world im a ford guy at heart, i have a 2001 gp gt 169k miles on her and still runnin awesome, but i am concerned about the heat the engine puts out. everytime i open the hood it is just extremely hot are the 3.8ls like that or is there something i can do about that to help lower the temp a little bit. The guage never even reaches the 210 mark but just curious if these engines run hot.

    thanks guys

the engine should be around 210 or so with a stock thermostat (195*).

Put in a 180* T-Stat and just on a local IL forum and find someone to hook your car up to a tuner and turn the fan turn on point to a lower temp (EG 180*)

youd want the fan turn on points to be around 185* at the lowest otherwise they would always be on.
