Or you could take the exhaust loose like I did and it ran just fine then all the codes make me think its more than an 02 sensor people are so quick to blame them and I still dont think they fail as people think. All these symptons were happening on my GP just take the exhaust loose and see. If it was the same fault over and over then yeah prolly an 02 but all these problems I doubt it.

SEAFOAM? Should I buy it and add some to my fuel tank? Mine is a 2000 GP GT with 43K miles? Is it safe to use? Will it hurt anything?

It is safe to use, it will not hurt anything.....put some in your gas tank...and suck some in through the brake booster line. There are instructions on the bottle for what it can be used for. If you need specifics on how to seafoam through the brake booster line, do a search or ask...this has been discussed many times.

Update
I had it scanned today and it was misfiring in most of the cylinders (5 out of 6) but only when it was revved (not at idle). They pulled a plug said it looked like the fuel injectors were somewhat clogged. The shop suggested that I have them do a fuel injector service on it (costing $140). They also told me not to run copper plugs (I use Autolite coppers one range cooler than stock) in the GTP only platinum, saying that they are probably playing a part in why I'm having issues.
Any thoughts?

The plugs are not the problem, they just don't know any better. Has the fuel pressure ever been checked? Replace the fuel filter and dump a jug of fuel injector cleaner in it, don't pay them 140 for the service

Well, if it's misfiring because of the coils then your plugs will foul anyway. I'm the kind of person that believes if the 5-6 coils are not firing properly, then how far behind is the other going to be from failing. If you can afford it, replace them all, put in some new plugs, dump in the injector cleaner and see if that helps, and do the Seafoam in the tank and in the air intake just to make sure all the stuff up top is nice and clean.Originally Posted by Mercenary

I already replaced the coils a couple of months ago and I just got done running seafoam in the gas tank. I think you might of misunderstood me when I said 5-6 cyclinders were misfiring. I didn't mean # 5 and # 6 were I meant #1, 2, 4, 5 , and 6 all were misfiring (some more than others tho).

I've never had the pressure checked but I'm gonna replace the fuel filter today and do my own treatment on it. Funny thing is my driver's side window won't go up now so that's something else I gotta play with. So today is car day (gonna change the oil, coolant fluid flush, and whatever else I can think of).
I'm thinking about just getting stock coppers just to see what will happen. I don't really understand why platinum would help because everything I've read on here always suggested copper (platinum is for people who don't like changing plugs). I'll be checking the thread through out the day for any advice and I'll update the thread tonight with the results.

ok, The driver's window switch has gone out but we managed to get the window up. I unplugged the window motor so it won't go back down. I tried to replace the fuel filter but someone srtipped the nut bare on the fuel line. I'm worried about breaking it if I keep trying. It started to rain after that so the only thing that got done yesterday was the window.

sorry for raising the dead, but i am having same milage issue. i have the 4" fwi, 605's fresh fuel filter, all new tuneup and what not. i put a 180 t-stat in a while back, but DIDNT have any distilled water (early spring 08)...so i checked coolant and its a little low, and it looked like algae growth on cap and down inside. should i flush and change w/p? it does make supercharger whine sound now, and its progressed over time. it has 99.5k mi now, and only gets about 17.3mpg...not throwing codes, and no visual indications of exhaust leak on head (forward, havent checked aft) oh and i just cleaned the maf too, just in case, it didnt even look dirty at all.

IMHO you are approaching the end of life on your O2 sensor, and it just happens to be the most important item in your car relative to mpg.
Well, maybe second most important mpg item if you count the driver.

well, its only about a 8 min highway trip, which it gets around 26 if i reset and cruise, but when im nearing the end of my highway stint, im getting 19. i drive 70, it shouldnt kill milage that much. i tested it out a few times, and i got better gas mileage at 65 than i did at 55. so replace both front o2 sensors eh?

I think I read somewhere to be careful not to use vacuum "brake" boost line on supercharger but on the smaller fitting just down and to the left of the large fitting for vacuum "brake" boost, all on top of the SC. Something about stripping the Rotors and avoiding them by using the smaller vacuum line (introduces the seafoam farther downstream beyond the supercharger's rotors). I think you also need to change the oil (after 100 miles) even if all you do is the fuel tank or the Air Induction or both. Crankcase I know is no greater than 100 miles to run with seafoam. Good luck.

My GP had the same problem. I had the exact same symptoms. The problem was a blocked catalytic converter.
The reason it bogs down is because the car can't exhaust properly. This is causing the poor mileage and engine temp errors.

I decided to go ahead and take out my 180 T stat and 605 autolites and replace them with stock (well NGK TR55s which seem to be 1/2 step cooler than stock). If that doesn't fix the issue...I'm leaning toward replacing the front 02 sensor (Any preferred brands if I do?)

Seems like I finally fix the car...turns out the #6 spark plug was in two pieces and part of the porcelain was chipped off. I took it for a drive and didn't get any codes. I got 22 mpg which isn't what I want exactly but I'll take it. I took a pic of the plugs but I can't upload it to this post so unless ppl want to see I'll just leave it at that. Thanks for all the help.

My trip computer sais I am getting about 16MPG, Anyway to make that better? Is it hard to replace the O2 sensor? I'll buy the Seafoam and see if that works..
