Well everyone knows the big three are in massive financial trouble. I say GM should be sending me a new vette with a thank you note and a mint on the drives seat, The note should say thank you American tax payer. As they will begin to file bankruptcy Im guessing monday. Id happily take a new vette in exchange for being a tax payer maybe then Id call it even, just maybe.

Im just fed up with all 3 of the automakers and Im tired of buying transmissions, I think my next car should be a Nissan or a Honda. Maybe some thing like a 350z or and S2000.

never said those were perfect how ever both come in RWD and a manual. as for maintenance filter changes at 30k and running synthetic fluid should be good esp when its a bone stock gt but still trans self destruct. I was looking at TB SS's too Ive been very happy with my wifes GMC envoy decent milage for a suv too.

ya and its people like you that put the american made car autoworkers out of bussines, when you buy a import POS 85% of that money goes back across seas and f***s over the american auto workers. so thank you for that

dont need to start this argument since honda and nissan both have plants in the U.S. Thanks for the back up Gixer2000 and Sabrewings I agree with both of you 100% The unions have a huge part in why the big three are where they are today.... In financial trouble. FTW its the unions that put automakers out of business!

Your 100% right and I agree.

Don't argue that fact too much around here though, there are too many here who believe otherwise...

You too only hear what you want. And are misguided do some research my friend. Hmm Honda and Nissan both have plants here and GM have plants in both Canada and Mexico? I must me missing something.

Wow, i'm glad you have taste in cars... ha.

I think the problems with your trannies is you. How can I run my stock 4T65-HD to 150k with any problems on a modded GTP thats was race quiet a bit and flogged many times? I had no problems my only secret is dropping the pan every 20,000 miles, all I ran was Valvoline Dex3 and a Wix filter.

Maybe I could blame myself maybe I could blame the builder of the last 2 transmissions I got. Maybe I could get mad because the sky is blue. Im willing to bet Im not the only person to smoke a trans with 60k miles on it. So what gives? take your **** else where..... I simple stated the S2000 and the 350Z as alternative that meet my request of a RWD manual I bet if I said Id like a brand new Corvette which I already did at the begining of this post you'd shut up right??

Sounds like you have a ****ty trans builder, not a ****ty car.

Yeah you probably are. Several things factor in obviously... how it was taken care of, how poorly it was treated, etc. Then again it could fall in the **** happens catagory. All I can say is I have 2 high mileage GTPs, my black one has 145,000 miles on it on its stock tranny, it runs fine. I had 160,000 on my original trans for my white car (its in the shed working fine, I only swapped it so I could have a stronger tranny with gears and a stall).

Piss poor choices for a RWD manual cars IMO, but again, thats my opinon. At least a Vette is tasteful. There are MANY MANY RWD manual cars I'd choose before either of your choices, then again.... I ain't gonna say it

omg, my dad bought a g8 gt in liquid red with black racing stripes,
19" rims, and chrome accent pieces...that car is slick...and blew
the !@#$ doors off my gtp like i was standing still. We're taking
them to the track tuesday night to see just how horribly bad he
smokes me even. And he asked if he got an owners discount, which
totally made me lose it and laugh at the negotiation table.

and as far as american vs japanese, i buy american, but my 1st
car was a 92 acura integra hatch. my friend still drives that
car and the only thing thats ever been changed is the waterpump,
timing chain, tires, and belts. since i sold that car, i have blown
up an 87 silverado, and 2 cavaliers and my 3rd is right behind it.
seems they dont like the 200,000+ mark while that acura is almost
at 275,000 without even valve rattle.
87 Silverado - 217,000 no one could figure out why it didnt run. parted out.
    96 cavalier 2.2 - 190,000 timing chain jumped
98 cavalier 2.4 z24 - 185,000 thrown rod, perfect service records from the dealer i bought it from's service shop.
02 cavalier 2.2 - 160,000 head rebuilt due to extreme valve rattle and severe drop in horsepower. runs fine now....for now.

but i have to admit, i had fun driving the bejesus outta all of my chevrolets. not to say i didnt beat the acura either. but i prefer chevrolet. except give me a GTR! mwahaha.

Yea but the american auto makers are all union and they always want more money and will never back down a little to save the company they work for.all its about for them is the money and i can understand that but there comes a time when there are more important things.

I think you've missed about a decade's worth of news.... and certainly as it pertains to UAW.

While we debate which car maker is superior than the next. We all seem to forget one small thing in all of them. The gasoline. My first car I owned when I graduated college back in 91 was a brand new Honda Civic DX Hatchback 5 speeder. Sure it fun for what it was, but it nothing special. Then I got my 4.6L V8 94 T-Bird and had that puppy for 8 years before it got totalled out in a car accident. And then my 97 GP GT I had for 6 months before good ole DexCool ate the motor, and then I had for 2 years my Ford Ranger XLT 4x4, and then its been GPs ever since, my GT I had for 5 years and then my 03 GTX for 2 years now. But what makes all the cars the same is the gas.

The reason I say this is simple. Everyone *****es about who makes a better fuel burning engine to conserve every precious last drop, but what a lot of folks don't realize is that the oil companies could refine the gas even better to improve ANY vehicle's over all MPG. People have proven what a little Acetone can do to your vehicles MPG when added to regular gasoline, why can't the oil companies come up with something like that stretch a tank of gas that much more?

People wanna point fingers at GM, Chrysler and Ford for making gas guzzlers, I am not gonna sit here and say a V8 will get 35mpg, unless its a diesel perhaps but if the oil companies could formulate a better burning and better conbustion type gasoline, half of our problems would be solved. Sure the Prius would last a month on a tank of gas, but in theory then a G8 GT might last a full week or two on a tank then.

If you think about it, you will understand what I am talking about
