Since my last thread got hijacked I figured I'd start another one.

"The install is going slowly but surely. I'm taking my time to make sure things are done right. I've been cleaning alot of parts along my way and am also cleaning out the injectors and have replaced the 80k mile old SC oil. I ran into one small thing that the instructions/pics do not address..."

The IC included two gaskets. One has some sealant on it already and the other doesnt. Does anyone know which one goes where and in what side it faces?

I replaced the o-rings on my injectors and after reinstalling them they seem rather loose. They spin fairly easily and i can move them up/down a bit if the retainer clip isn't on there. Is this normal?

    Thanks!

Let me make this a little easier for you...

Don't worry about which way the gaskets go but put some RTV (Grey RTV is my choice) on both sides of the gaskets, on both gaskets.

And yes that is normal for the injectors to do that.

what kind of gaskets did they send?? when i installed my short stack IC they sent a green garlock and a stock sc gasket. the garlock had to go below the ic plates and the stocker went up top. i fu**ed this up 5 times and had the gaskets in the wrong place and it leaked everytime

Thanks for the very useful info! I'll throw some RTV on there before I go any further. Gixer, I also received a green and a stock gasket.

Does anyone know the torque specs for the SC? The torque specs page on here states its only 18ft/lbs for a SC but 89ft/lbs for an upper manifold? ?

dude, do yourself a favor and throw that garlock piece of **** away. go get yourself another stock gasket and cut it so that it matches the outlet.

also, i have never used any RTV on any of my installs of anything for the blower. if you use a stock gasket youll more than likely be fine.

i took everyones advice and tried 2 stock gaskets with and without rtv and could never get it to seal below the ic core. use the garlock on the bottom of the plates with a light coat of rtv and it will be fine.

Or you can buy our brand new silicone gaskets. They are 100% re-usable.

    And they are only 12.99

These will be on the web site as well.

mmmm... that's a sexy gasket TDC. I just got done with the gaskets. I put RTV on both sides of the garlock and put it below the IC. I put RTV on the plain paper side of the stock one. I dont see any need for it on the other side since it already has a silicone bead on there. I can't really see any harm in putting the RTV on there as long as it can withstand that heat. Bah Damn it! I forgot to cut the gasket to match the IC opening.

Neither was. They even show a pic of it being cut in one of the pics but no mention of it in the directions. I left the garlock one as it was since my LIM isnt ported.

I got the car started let it smooth out for about five minutes. Five more minutes go by and theres no more improvement. I busted out the starter fluid and sprayed by the IC. Guess what? This thing leaks like a mother****er!!

Like i stated earlier, the garlock has RTV on both sides and is below the IC. The stocker is on top and the side with the silicone bead on it is facing the SC. It has RTV on the other side. I used a very light amount of RTV throughout. It's only been sitting for two or three hours. Should i expect an improvement if i let it dry out completely?

Good God, $12.99 is an excellent price for that. TDC, you know my feelings that something like that could sell for twice that price

Have you got specs on the silicone material used for those?

you dont need a gasket on the bottom of the short stack. ZZP puts a Gen5 plate on the bottom so its 1/2'' longer. all you need is a steady bead of silicone around the core itself and the pcv holes and you are fine. put the stock GM gasket on top of the cooler and put the blower on. bolt it down and youre done.
