I have a 97 SE and I've been having some problems with my fuel gauge. Whenever my gauge starts to dip below a 1/4 tank and I shut the car off, when I start it back up again the needle points to full and Sloooowwwwwly goes down as I drive around. When I put more gas in it, as long as it's enough to go over a 1/4 tank, the needle is where it is supposed to be. Any thoughts?

not as bad as mine. For some reason when I'm above a half tank it read slow. then I'll hit half a tank and it seems to drop almost a 1/4 of tank out of no where. I am getting **** for gas mileage for some reason though, I think it may have to do with my exhaust leak though.

Same here on the mileage, for sure my pcv valve needs replaced, EGR probably needs to be looked at as well, but I'm pretty stumped on the fuel gauge thing. Wish one of the GP vets would help me out! Hint Hint

    EGR whats that? I don't have one of those...tune up...plugs/wires/air filter/oil, oil filter/fuel filter...run some 91 through it...won't hurt

Replace your PCV if you want too...you might have crappy o2 Sensors...my MPG's increased by about 5-8 with new o2's. And god don't go by the DIC...it is no where ever close to what your really getting MPG wise IMO.
