AHHH!!! didnt realize you were in the burbs. I would have driven down and fixed it! I have a spare pump. 600!?!??!?!?? thats highway robbery.
tell you what, if you have another problem give me a call. 815-566-0052
Thanks for everyone that stepped up and wanted to help.
Scotty, you went all out!!! you registered on the local club here and asked!!!! congrats on that. too bad that board is soooo slow now a days
Thank you sir. I really really get wound up when the dealer or a mechanic quotes prices like that. I can understand they get are in a business to make money and have employees to pay, Im okay with that. Im okay that you are paying them for what they know, which is essentially what you are doing. But when they arbitrarily look at a book and it says the work will take three hours and charge outrageous labor rates for that three hours for a job that might take a third of that, then I get a little peeved.
Oh well, its done with, maybe I can be a little quicker next time.
If they used a delco pump they tend to cost more than the standard replacement don't they? Seems like it was almost $400 for the assembly (I will look and see)
rock auto lists it at 369, so a shop would be over $400 probably
shop I used to work for would get the discount on the part...they would get it at cost, and charge 50% more for the customer...then labor for install...so I could see everybit of 400...but 600? thats outrageous
