Ok today after driving for about an hour in 115°+ weather my car randomly studdered for a few seconds, then died completely and would crank but, not fire. I let it cool down and then drove it fine for about 10 minutes before stalling again and me having to wait for it to cool off. I immediately thought it was the crankshaft sensor since these cars are notorious for that going out and no start condition. Looking at the aeroforce it showed the p0341 cel code which is a camshaft sensor range problem. So my question is..
Does a faulty camshaft sensor cause the same no start the crank sensor does?
Also is there a chance its not actually the cam sensor and its the crank sensor?
I havent heard or read anyone that had a cam sensor go bad, but ive seen 100 bad crankshaft sensor threads. Their all wired together and work off eachother so i figured maybe its actually the crank.

Lastly what brand is the best, i normally just get ac delco, unless someone had a better one or problems with it. Thanks guys!!

Camshaft sensor issue will give you a 1 in 6 chance of starting. Check the connector/wiring going to it. Cam sensor failures are not overly common. I would pull the sensor and stick a finger into the sensor hole and feel around for the magnet. Turn the engine a little and checking for the magnet. If someone the magnet is missing from the cam gear, it can cause the code and for you to pull the timing cover. That was common on the Series I 3800 (never in GP), and not common in the S2/S3, but I'd check anyhow.

I replaced my crank sensor 5 years ago, but turned out to be a wiring issue. I used a Delco sensor and it has worked just fine.

Confused Chris.. he said he had a cam sensor code, not a crank code. One doesn't toss a code for the other.

They were talking cam and crank, and brand, thus my reply. Just trying to help.

Thanks for the input guys, ive been really busy and finally ready to fix this problem. I cant stand driving the 200hp 2014 Sonata its like a ginormous gocart at full throttle, sounds way to similar as well..

Is there any specific wires I should check on the ignition harness, or if someone can link me a diagram for it. I know ive seen one around, but for the life of me cant find it now that I actually need it.

stand on passenger side of car.. stick your left hand down into engine bay and stick a finger at 7-8 oclock on the water pump pulley. Feel that sensor.. that's your cam sensor. Now if wires got buggered.. it's likely over by the crank or just over the crank. You can pick up a harness off nearly any 3800. It goes from the icm to a connector right behind the icm, down to crank and over to cam sensor.
