My reverse lamps stopped working a few months ago and now I wanna spend sometime and fix them. I think it's a Bcm issue, the fuse itself for CHMSL and back up lamps have power but no power to the back up lamps themselves. Tried to trace the wiring without compelty removing the interior. My EVIC says im in reverse so I don't think its a trans range sensor issue unless the back up lamps get signal from where else. When I view output data for the bcm on my scan tool for back up lamps on or off it always says off even in reverse. If it is a BCM, can a used be installed or are they VIN driven to the car. Its $45 for a used vs $250 for a new one. Anything else to try first?

open up the trunk lid harness where it goes into the trunk. very common for the wires to split, lic plate lights can also stop working as well.

Thats all good. I have ground just no power. Probed the power wire at a point in front of the back seat and had no power. So either I have a break between the BCM and the rear seat, or the BCM driver is bad, or there is nothing else that provides a signal to acitvate the back up lamps

theres a small harness to the shiftier in the console, those wires like to break, the reverse lights might get activated from there.
