Thread: Need help with vibrating issue as I go faster.

It feels like it is mainly coming from the driver front area. A couple years ago I had both axles replaced and that took care of vibration on acceleration from 30-40 mph because the boot on the axles were dry rotted and slinged grease everywhere. A few weeks ago I replaced both the inner and outer tie rod on the driver side because there was play in the tire when grabbed at the 9 and 3 position. Replacing the tie rod didn't fix the vibration. So I had a buddy look behind the tire while i rocked the tire. He immediately noticed the ball joint was moving a lot. So I hopped on rock auto and bought a new control arm with a ball joint already included. I replaced that about a week ago, after replacing I went for a test drive out on the interstate and it still vibrated.

I don't think it's a hub issue because I grabbed the tire at 12 and 6 and there wasn't any movement. It is also not a balance issue because the tires have been rotated multiple times and it still come from that area. Surprisingly there is no uneven wear on the tires. Although now the alignment is slightly off after replacing the tie rod.

When at highway speed and I go into a quick little dip in the road, so when the suspension compresses, the vibration increases then lets off after getting out of the dip. When load is held on the drivetrain for example when cruise is set the car vibrates but once I switch the cruise off the vibration lets off but you can still feel it slightly.

When there is a right turn on the interstate and all the weight of the vehicle shifts to the left it makes the car vibrate just a little more. When the road turns left and the weight shifts to the right side of the car then the vibration is less.

What could it be??

So loading the Left hand front suspension causes the vibration to increase. With everything else being replaced, LCA's and tie rods, the only thing really left is the Strut mounts. But that seems to be counter-intuitive.

How's that Cradle to Tranny mount look on the left side? Pry up on it, see if it's separated?

thats what my next thought was to check the tranny mount since it's on that side.

For upgrades/no future issues be sure to do solid rubber lower trans/engine mounts (usually the motor mount is the one that lets go, not the trans) and flip the upper dog bones 90* so you take stress off of them, too.

A few years back I did flip the dog bone mounts 90 degrees

So this past Saturday I checked the tranny mount and it looked good. Now i have no more ideas, unless its internal to the transmission which in that case i don't want to touch it.

Anybody else know what it could be?

Have the tires checked.
A cord may have shifted that could cause the vibration.

The tires have been rotated numerous times and it still comes from the same area. It also did it on the last set of tires that were on the car.
