First id like say i like the site so far and ut has a lot of useful information. I recent acquired a 97 gtp and im tryung to figure out what all has been done. So my first question, how do I determine what injectors and what pulley sizes i have. I know the car already has a cai and headers. It also has performance coils and wires. The previous owner stated it had a top end rebuild but i dont know if he had heaver springs installed. He did say it had a more aggresive cam and you can tell it does when its running. Thanks for any info in advance

hard to say, but a cam requires stronger valve springs. so lets hope he did that. depending on pulley brand, they are stamped on one side or another. stock is a dinner plate at 3.8. im running a 2.8 myself these days.

2.8 is this tight to the snout, to give a idea what a small one looks like.

you might need this add on to see the pics. http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...ck+photobucket photo ucket is having its fun with us all.

Im pretty sure he probably swapped springs so i havent started looking at all the parts yet but ill check the pulley timorrow. While im replacing the power steering pump. What would upgraded injectors look like because it looks like those could be upgraded as well. I am not able to view the pictures because i do everything from my phone which is mobile chrome.

injectors are hard to tell, unless they are green, then you know they were changed. if its got anything smaller then a 3.4 pulley on there it should have been upgraded to 42's at min.

you're gonna want to get a way to scan this set up. you also might want to get a wide band if it dont have one. im sure its been tuned or it would not run so well really.

big thing to be scanning for is KR, knock retard. that will chip your pistons and kill your fun. nice to know if you have any.

Cool. Im going to dive into it tomorrow after i change the wife oil in her car. Im stoked to start another tuner project. My last one was an 08 Tacoma xrunner and had to sell it to pay bills. But i had a LOT of time invested in it. So im looking forward to starting a new project. Thank you for your help

common tuners for these cars are hpt, and good old dhp. dhp is a w body only tuner, 96-05 only.

Sounds good. Im in no huge hurry to do anything because this isnt my daily driver so i can take my time. It needs some stuff cosmetically so ill be doing that as well. Nice thing is these cars are very common so cosmetic stuff will be cheap

did the seller say if the tranny was built or not? with a cam if you drive it like you stole it and do skip shifts and stuff then the input shaft can and will break one day. if you treat it nice they hold up somewhat . theres a few here on stock trannys with xp cams.

if you have not guess it yet, the tranny is the weak link in these cars. stock engines kill them.
