I bought a book and started reading it. The point of the book is making Ethanol Fuel. I thought I would start a discussion on topics I found interesting: The first one being that one reason people think gasoline has more energy is because the unit of measure used is BTU's, or how much heat is produced. Although it does take heat to make power, too much heat takes power away, so I don't really understand why BTU's is the unit of measure used.

Another thing I found interesting is that Ethanol is oxygenated, and this is the reason more fuel needs to be added. The chemical structure of ethanol has one molecule of oxygen in it.

gasoline is more volatile than ethanol, which is why the car will start easier in the winter when run off gas instead of ethanol.

Ethanol has lower cylinder pressure, but the duration is better because the cylinder pressure doesn't drop off as much.
