I replaced my shifter assembly and now there is no electrical power going to my car. I checked all of the big fuses under the hood and they all seem fine. When I tap the negative battery cable to the battery i don't get any type of sparking. I hooked up the car to a battery charger to confirm power and still nothing. The car is completely dead. no lights or anything.

I tried doing a voltage drop test and the meter didn't show a voltage increase.

The car acts like it doesn't have a battery in it at all. No lights or anything.

    Any ideas?

seems odd, the new one is plugged in and the cars plug and wires look ok right? cause they tend to break often.

id try to plug in the old one, see if it comes to life. maybe the new one is the wrong year?

I ended up trying this and swapped the old one back in and reconnected the battery and the car came to life and fired up. I put the "new" one back in then i reconnected the battery and the car came to life and fired up....so i am a bit clueless now as to what was going on.

on a side note with the new one in place I can use the brake pedal to release the shifter instead of having to use the shift release button.
