Alright so I've been wanting to put a cold air intake on the 3800 series 3 But the air box is also the housing for the ecu, so where could I place that?

Get a PCM mounting bracket, I think they are on 98+ S10s, GM part # 15995679 or your local used parts yard. Mount the bracket where the factory air box sits. You can google to find pics etc.

    ^ This, or.....

If you get the K&N CAI it has a plate to mount the PCM on. I believe others have used cable-ties to hold the PCM to the fender.

On my 04, I just zip tied it in the factory location. PCMs are built tough.

You could always do a "wire tuck" and run the PCM into the car. Put it in the glovebox or something.

This serves no useful purpose, but it can be done...

Mine has a bungee cord that's stretched out so it's not really doing anything and it's fine. I had the plastic pcm try but never bolted it down and that never had any problems either.
