I got the low port valve out with a tire valve tool. I have some tire valves but of course despite looking the same size as the one extracted, the threads must be different cuz I can't thread the new one in. The high port valve looks to be some type of check ball, so I'm stuck on that one too. I threaded the old one back in, and put a can of freon in, but I still feel it escaping. Guess I'm replacing the hoses. Being the original owner I guess after 17 years it's to be expected. The hoses are about $90 on rockauto, so that's not too bad. At least I know for sure now I need the hoses. Thanks for you help!
