Hey guy's I've noticed sometimes when I go to turn the car over I get nothing at all. It doesn't happen all the time and when it does happen I just turn it back to the insert position, and turn her over again and fires up. Car is a 06 GT, is it possible this is related to the recall issue? I have not yet taken it to a dealership to find out. Thanks all!

What happens when you turn the key to start? Does everything electrical go dead, or just no starter engagement. CEL on?

Nothing happens. I don't lose lights/gauges, but I also don't get a CEL. Something I should be listening for?

Check all the battery cable connections and all ground on the trans. to be sure they are clean and tight. A dirty or loose one can cause all kinds of strange things to happen.

The recall doesn't affect the actual ignition cylinder on our vehicles, it just involves an insert for the key.

To me it sounds like it could be the starter going bad. It may be a pain to do (since it's an intermittent issue), but pop the hood and hold your head out the window when you start the vehicle until the issue occurs again. When it happens, if you hear a click from the engine bay and the engine doesn't turn over, it's likely a bad starter. If you don't hear a click then the issue is closer to the power source (either ignition or connection related). Normally if you have a bad ground relating to the starting system (or even a bad battery), your gauges and such will cut out while the key is turned.
For thine is the Cam, The Piston, and The Rod, Forever and ever (or until they break). Amen.
