I need to replace the two small metal lines on the steering rack, but I cannot find them anywhere. Can I just make new ones with brake lines? If so what kind of flare are they?

Check rockauto.com for the power steering lines. Shouldn't be that expensive and will work better than homemade lines. If they don't have any then check Autozone, OReilley's, etc.

He's talking about rack lines not the ones for the power steering pump. I'm not sure what size flare they are but I know a compression fitting will fail in short order...
