So I did a search and found a few threads on high cold start idles. Not much really came out of the threads and they died. Maybe I'm missing something.

I just took a few videos of both my junk cars. First one is my 99. Top swapped, xp cam, Pre-00 N* TB and that's about it. It idles right around 1100-1200 where it should be from what I've read and such. This car hasn't been started in at least 3 days.

Now my 03 is below. I/C. 00+ N*, stock cam, blah blah . It started doing this months ago but after it warms up it's perfectly fine and idles ok. I did take out the IAC last night and cleaned it. It wasn't bad. Both tunes on the car haven't had any cold start idle things changed in the tune. I checked both of them last night. Everything else is fine when it warms up.

Why is my 03 idling higher when it's cold?

theres settings in the pcm for cold start rpm's, temp vs rpm iirc. colder it is higher the idle speed.

Yes Scotty I know that. I already checked that. They are the stock values on both tunes/bin files.

Both cars are at the same ambient temp. I took the videos within minutes of each other yesterday.

But going back to my original post. Why does the 03 idle higher than the 99 at a dead cold start?

Edit - Also, I particularly don't like waiting 10 minutes before I want to put the car in reverse to go to work. Cars don't like it when you go from park to reverse when the car is idling 1300 rpm's.

tach is wrong then? use a scanner to show the rpms, not the cluster.

it's 1400 on my scan master....The tach is not wrong. It's idling high. After it warms up. It's fine.

Nope. somehow i'm a tard (shocker eh?). I thought I had them side by side but I didn't.

my 99 bin file has a slightly lower idle table than my 03. The 03 has air pump on and air pump off. Any idea what that is? - Edit - Cali emissions crap...

well I ended up dropping the idle on the 03 down a few hundred RPMS's. Seems to have helped but the car has only been off for 4 or so hours. The test will be in the morning.
