Well here's how things went down lol, parked car and it was running great, went in to play a gig and came out and car wouldn't start. First assumption was battery low, but it cranked like it was brand new, but still jumped it and no luck, at this point called a cab as it was -28 so too cold to do anything. Came back next morning and attempted boost again with no luck, put in a heat lamp hoping the gas was frozen and plugged in the block heater, waited a couple of hours and again it would turn over great but no fire. So gave up on roadside fixing as it was warmer yesterday at only -24 and had to call a buddy and tow it.

Now we have it in his shop and it is getting the p0520 code, so it's something to do with the oil pressure sending unit, possibly a ground has anyone had a bad ground with this before and if so where should I begin to look? or is it better off just replacing the entire unit?

Second issue we found is that one of the coils has expanded and literally cracked open, best guess is that there was moisture inside of the coil and with the ridiculously cold temperatures it caused this issue to happen.

Any help or pointers on the oil sending unit is appreciated

http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...nd-P0520-codes old thread cover location. if your a 04 up, im not sure if you can just unplug it. they fail all the time, but fail in the way of leaking oil.

the coil, replace it with a stock coil.

not sure what scanner or way you came up with a no crank signal.

try unplugging the o/p sensor. then see if it starts. mines unplugged for like 5 years now.

Not sure what type of scanner he has I just know it is red lol, but it shows no crank signal, well according to him and he is a mechanic, he could have been dumbing it down for me lol.

I will try just unplugging the o/p tomorrow and see if it fires and go from there, we gave up on it shortly after the crank signal issue

Thanks for your assistance it is appreciated

it could mean a crank sensor, those will keep it from starting up. and they hardly ever set a code.

did the car suffer from random stalling before all this? if so crank sensor for sure.

No random stalling at all, ran like a champ until I shut the car off, then no start. Apparently it is the ignition control module, so either I was mistaken about the crank or he just told me the wrong thing by mistake, getting a new one tomorrow as we had a winter storm here today and most things were closed down, over 2 feet of snow and ice rain yippee lol, so things got put on hold. The ICM being bad would also explain the issue with the crank sensor as it triggers the signal from the sensor
