I currently have ZZP 3 inch downpipe and 2.5 inch borla catback (I believe the old PFYC one) and am wanting a little more volume and power from it. Wanting to get a 3 inch zzp catback with no resonator and Borla xr1 mufflers. What do you guys think of this set up? Would it change much in tone or volume in a good way? Power? Also im in California. Thanks!

I would never run without a resonator on a 3800 it's gonna sound like poo. Your not gonna notice much of a gain going from your current setup to a 3" unless your going all out where your maxing **** out

Yeah, you are not going to gain anything but a bleeding ear drum by changing to that set up. Your current set up isn't even close to maxxed.

Res with muffs sounds great with headers on a 3800. You can't get a V6 to sound like a V8, no matter how much you wish - I know, I tried. lol

What exactly does a resonator do? I have a camed/supercharged 3800 with slp headers and slp catback with no resonator or catalytic converter I do know what you mean you can't get it to sound like a v8 but it sounds good it has a deeper rumble to it. It does have a raspy sound when you get on it and let off quick or rev it real high not under load but it's a v6 I've come to the conclusion that there is nothing I can do about it.

So no power difference at all. Not trying to max out. To be clear this is my set up 104 autolites, 180 tstat, Overkill tune, k&n intake, zzp 3 inch downpipe, powerlog, 3.5 pulley and that pfyc borla catback muffler system. Now the 3 inch catback will do no good or better? Will at least adding XR1 borla mufflers sound better than the pfyc borla mufflers (assuming you have some idea of what they sound like :/) Not trying to sound v8 just trying to sound clean with a bit of volume and intimidation at a v6 level. Current setup sounds only slightly better than probably stock mustangs... idk

After driving my car for nearly a year with 2 chamber flowmasters and with a small glasspack since I bought the car, I would trade a stock system in a minute.

I wouldn't even think about it once. The system on my car sounds horrible, it's loud for no reason, all bark no bite, it drones like a college professor but only about 100 times louder. I wouldn't recommend it. Sorry I wasn't clear earlier.

Youre saying by just getting xr1 mufflers ill regret it? Is it that bigg of a difference from my pfyc borla mufflers?

I'd definitely get rid of the power log and get a set of headers big difference. I had front and rear plog and 3" downpipe I noticed a difference with headers plus the stock crossover is so small. Leave the catback if you already have 2.5" your not going to gain anything just my opinion.

I noted i was in california.. Im hoping the plog wont get me trouble even... I get that you guys are saying the 3 inch catback system wont benefit my in performance im now wanting to now how big of a difference the xr1 mufflers will make compared to my pfyc borla mufflers on terms of sound.
