I put a new oil pan and gasket in the 98 GT about a year ago, and figured I may as well change the oil level sensor while I was at it. Never had an issue with it, but figured it's only a few bucks, why not. After I installed the new Dorman sensor I started getting "low oil level" light. If the light comes on, it stays on until you cycle the ignition. Doesn't come on every time, only once in a while. Whenever you check the oil using the dipstick, it's right up to the top (motor is tight now, no leaks or usage).
This is daughter #2's car, and got tired of her complaining about the light, so decided to change the sensor again when she was home at Thanksgiving, plus showed her new fiance some car repair skills. Replaced the sensor and all was good....until she called me when ahe got home and said the "low oil level" light was on again.
Any ideas? Unlikely that 2 sensors are bad....maybe wiring, oil pan configuration, not sure? Anybody else have issues with this?
