    My car died on the way to work today. 97 GTP

    It will start up and idle fine for five seconds then just cut off, even if I rev it up. Never had this problem before.

    I tried running without the maf plugged in and it does the same thing.

    Any ideas guys?

    Is the security light flashing? Tried another key in it? Other than that maybe try the fuel relay trick and put the pump into high-speed mode and see if it stays running then.

    Security light on the speedo or on the dash? The 97s dont have the key security thing

    My cps died today, after a 50 mile road trip. left it idling in a parking lot, came out..dead.

    high speed resistor burned up. its in the fender by the battery if you care to change it.

    Why does the resistor burn up? Will bypassing the resistor do any damage to the pump?

    its a resistor, they fail. most who bend the tab on the relay run it that way forever. or you can replace the resistor. your call.
