SO, I'm looking into replacing my front sway bar since I believe it may be cracked and causing my front end noise I've been trying to figure out for the past 6 months. It seems Rockauto only has the Doorman OE replacement bar. I've also found the GM OE bar that claims to be heavy duty from GM parts direct. Not sure of any other good brands out there? Ideally want something that will not be a hassle to install (because of not fitting exactly) and will improve performance/handling since I have to replace the bar anyway. Any experience with this?

dorman solid 33 mm bar is what most of us run. its like 75 bucks on amazon and ebay, not sure what rockauto wants for it.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

Ok. Yeah its $74 on Rockauto. Is the handling better than the stock bar?

ebay you'll find it with free shipping, rockauto never ships for free.

if your bar is broken now, its like night and day lol

stock bar is hollow too. the ends just snap off at the end links.

Poly bushings make a big difference. It's going to be noticeable if your going from a cracked sway bar to a solid not cracked one. Best bang for your buck!

I think gmpp has a kit they used to sell. it had the front and back strut tower braces and front sway bar for like 140. you would just need to find a rear sway bar because you shouldn't run a front without running a back.

Thanks Guys. I think I'll go with the Dorman product then, I'll check out ebay to see if I can get free shipping... Not looking to do anything with the rear as the end links and bushings were done a year ago and it's quiet back there without any clunks.

They do but but your still going to get a hollow 33-34mm swaybar vs the 34 solid Dorman one. Those strut bars could be found in the JY most days of the week for just a few bucks. Dorman ftw best bang for your buck!

Advance also sells it. Order online and use a coupon code and either pick up in store if there available locally or get your order over $75 for free shipping. This bar is heavy! It's not something you want to actually pay shipping on.

you really need to do the rear unless you don't mind your back end breaking loose all the time. if you do the front and not the rear you will have back end traction issues.

Does the cradle need to be dropped for the swap? FYI engine is out of it now, but not looking like that even matters for sway bar replacement.

lowering the rear of the frame makes it easier to get past the brake lines on the driver side, they all pass the rear bushing cap bolt.

Nope. I just put a solid Dorman sway and LCAs on my 04, which had a different sway design than the 97-03 GPs... Hence the LCAs.

I just popped the tie rod ends out of the knuckle on both sides and it went right in with a little wiggle. The bushing brackets were the biggest pain.

I'm just worried about getting those bolts out on a 16 year old car that has lived in the rust belt. So the word easy is almost unheard of lol

Well the bolts are all out. ended up having to cut both links in half, and even then had to heat the one side up to get the rest to fall out. I pounded on em like no other, would not budge.
