I may be moving to California for a job opportunity soon and it's prompted me to think on which of my car's modifications will pass muster there. I already know my already-aftermarket cat won't work (supposedly?) but I've been told my headers will likely have to go as well? Is this true?

Yup only carb legal headers are TOGs and I forgot the other set.. Install factory manifolds.. Pass etest. Then throw the SDs back on. Rinse and repeat as often as registrations requires. Or just keep your car registered in a better state then Cali.

Is there a limit on how long I can keep my car AZ registered if I move to CA - anybody know?

You should definitely sell those headers. Or the whole car.

    You can't mod in Cali.

If you can keep some kind of address in AZ you should be able to keep it registered there. It's not technically legal, but there are plenty of people who do the same.
