Weather getting warm and I am finding that my AC Compressor does not spin. I know the clutch will not engage if the system is low on freon as a safety feature. However, I also know that you can jumper the pins for the relay as a test.
Which pins should you jump? The relay module is not marked that well.
I'd like to know if the compressor will spin of if its totally shot.

If the pulley itself does not move when the motor is running and the belt is just being dragged over it, the compressor itself is locked up and you'll have to buy a new one.
If the pulley moves but the clutch does not engage, then either the system is low on freon or an issue with the electrical side. Sorry but I don't know what wire you'd need to use to jump it.

Thanks. Pulley and belt move fine which is why I'd like to jumper the pins. If the clutch would engage I could determine if the system is simply low on freon.

You'd be better off connecting a cheapy gauge say from a used can of freon at the parts store to get an idea of the low side pressure than you are running it w/o sufficient pressure/lubrication.
Bet you could find someone filling their car up in the parking lot on any one of these warmer days.

Unplug the compressor and put power to it.
If you are low on freon, the compressor will cycle rapidly.

I found it is pins 30 and 87 that you can jump with a paper clip. Remove the relay and you should see small print labeling the pins. With the ignition off and pins jumped I heard a clicking like the magnet was trying to engage the clutch.
Started the engine and used BillBoost37's idea to take a reading with a gauge off a used can of freon. Gage indicated the system was low. Started adding freon and the clutch engaged and started spinning. Added a 12 ounce can. AC felt better but it was a cloudy day today. We'll see how it feels next sunny, hot, humid day.

if it was low, it leaked out. a/c system dont eat the R- what ever we use now. it leaked out, so it may not work tomorrow or next week. as the leak has not been fixed yet.
