Do I need any special tools to change the front subframe mount bushings on my 01 grand prix? The noise is getting worse. Seems the noise gets quieter the warmer the outside temp gets warmer. Anybody experience
this same thing or is it my imagination? Any and all help would be appreciated.

i had a clunk that was only there when it was super cold out. looks like it was the sway bar bushing. over winter i saw a small gap. now i dont see one, and the clunk is gone.

as for the frame bushings, you need a jack, jack stands, and a 18 mm socket. taking off the dog bones from one side cant hurt either, 15 mm socket.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

Get a 3jaw puller from auto zone and a flat head screwdriver and a hammer for the front bushings. Hammer the flat head in between the lip of the frame and bushing until you get enough gap to stick the puller on it

Never done these on a W-Body, just an H-Body... but I'd imagine it would be similar. Use lots of penetrating oil, those bolts get rusted in really bad. Not sure about what you're in for if one of those bolts break off in the body, but I can't imagine it would be fun.

Why would you need a 3-jaw puller for for the subframe bushings? Maybe we are talking about two different things... as I recall, to remove a bushing, you just have to support the subframe with a jack stand, remove the bolt holding in the bushing and backing, and the bushing should come right out by hand.

The front subframe bushings definitely do not come by hand

thanks for all the input, I replaced everything else so I guess the sub frame bushings are next because the noise is driving me crazy. The ride used to be so quiet, I love the car and don't want to get ridd of it
