Car has developed a whining and vibrating while steering (in the steering system somewhere) and I hope it's not gonna be costly

have you checked your power steering fluid? The rack is a b!7ch to change by yourself. If anything, hope it's just the pump. That's pretty easy to change.

I fixed my power steering today, turns out just prior to me purchasing the car, the dealer had a new rack installed, as well as the power steering line which is nice, but.............the person that did the work did not properly tighten the power steering return line on the drivers side of the motor, I'm actually amazed it held together as long as it did as it was probably only finger tight, best I can figure is he used a zip tie to hold the wire and that was what kept it from blowing off sooner lol, thankfully I know the garage that did the work so I will not be recommending any of my friends to get work done there

Just got done installing another new headlight switch in my 95 Bonne. Except this time I also had the pleasure of splicing in a newer harness since the old one cooked itself badly (which is typical on this year). Fun in a 28* garage. Really need to get kerosene for my heater, lol... Can't feel my toes!

LOL.. I know that all too well. Hopefully you used the newer switch and not a fireball 95 one. I did this same fix back in the day. (First was a 95)

Boy oh boy.. a heated steering wheel at 9F is great.

Well round 2 with the power steering return line today lol, found out another thing the mechanic didn't do when he installed the new rack. He failed to flange out the part that screws into the housing, and the plastic line connects too. Had to pull it all apart again and flange out the metal piece and then re install and put more fluid in but I think it is all fixed now lol

Yep. Used a 96+ switch w/o the drl so now I can put my original knob back on the way it came, since I don't have twilight sentinel. That harness was fubared. I actually had to find the pinout and wire color for the original 95 harness so I could splice in the 99 harness I got from the JY as I couldn't even make out 5 of the wire colors. This is of course after my buddy cut the old plug off w/o marking where the wires went Actually found your original posts over on GM forum about the same issue.

Heated steering wheel, gloves, same thing....right, lol... +1 for Audi

Bet you had choice words for him cutting that off. I was lucky enough to have all the wires still be able to be identified to the individual cavities when I did mine.

Recently I realized... I have a lot of service manual info avaiiable.

There were some not so nice things to be said about that one. After I b*tched and moaned for 10 minutes I used my google-fu and figured it out. Still can't believe how bad those wires were toasted. I could identify most of the wires, as long as they were supposed to be brown or black. Can't believe it never set the car on fire. I actually just got it all back together and took her for a spin. So far so good. Also replaced the pass. side taillight harness since the brake bulb socket was toast causing it to work when it wanted to. I'm letting it sit back in the driveway just in case it decides to do something dumb overnight.

Ha, sounds like me on the manuals. I have books for stuff from 79 to now. Cavaliers, Chrysler minivans, F350's, MG's, F-bodies and a bunch of Ford stuff (go figure). The Ford manuals are even nice enough to sometimes "circle the problem" as it were.
